Tuvan singer Sainkho Namtchylak, who has long been living abroad and who conquered world renown, will conduct a throat-singing workshop at the Museum of History of Ulan-Ude on 19-20 November.
As the government press-service of Buryatia explains, Sainkho Namtchylak, who is a singer-experimenter, improviser, composer, sound-poet, and specialist in archaic singing techniques, vocal techniques of people of Siberia and Far East, represents a unique phenomenon of world vocal culture.
The music she performs includes avant-garde jazz, "electronic music', contemporary composition, Tuvan heritage, Tibetan chanting and music of the peoples of the world.
There will be a concert of Sainkho Namtchylak at the Youth Art Theatre on 23 November.
Note: Sainkho Namtchylak - Lyudmila Okan-oolovna Namtchylak was born in Beldir-Kezhii of Ulug-Khem district of Tuvinian ASSR in a family of schoolteachers. She graduated from Moscow Ippolitov-Ivanov Music Institute, in folk music section, then aspiranture at Gnesinsky Institute in national department. She has been living abroad since 1990. In her musical activities, she blends Tuvan ethnic music and throat-singing with western music (avant-garde, modern, jazz, pop).
